Wildlife often seen from the water
On transfers and canal rides you may see birds, monkeys, iguanas, and — with luck — sloths. Nothing is guaranteed: it’s living rainforest.
Keep distance and follow authorized guides. Don’t feed wildlife.
On the water
Canals and wildlife watching
Many activities happen by boat or kayak on the canals. We focus on La Pavona ↔ Tortuguero and transportation to lodging docks.
For park wildlife tours, look for permitted operators and check SINAC hours and fees.

Jacanas, herons, and more
Canal edges are great for waterbirds. Early boat runs or quiet rides often yield better sightings.
